This particular Jasper is orbicular and has a trigonal crystal system. In general, Jaspers may have about 20% of foreign matter or inclusions which may include mineral oxides and organic materials. Leopard Skin Jasper is a form of silicon dioxide that has many inclusions which create distinct and desirable patterns. Jasper gets its name from the Greek word jaspi, which means spotted stone.
